Is hunt showdown worth getting?

A good co-op/competitive game from the guys behind Crysis. Feels like Monster Hunter with some PVP in it. Unfinished, still a lot work to be done by the dev.

I would rather wait till it comes out of early access or goes on sale.

If not expensive it may be. Visual are very good. Gameplay is great at first for me but i got tired quickly by playing often. Not the kind of game i would focus non stop for long period of time. The concept of if your character survive you keep it for the following games is very nice touch. I like that. Weapons and items feels critical. Ammunitions you keep count quite often. Nice suspense in the whole game. Bad part is Discord/Skype that ruin the fact that if you use VOIP in game it is like you were there so your enemy can hear you if you shout but if they use Discord/Skype they can talk but you cannot hear them so they have the advantage. During pre alpha people played fair but after people started to cheat and use alternative to bypass the concept.

Hunt Showdown appears to be a good game, but has ~800 players currently online.

This means its playerbase is rather small + it's a buy2play game, so that means the majority of the playerbase has probably been playing it for awhile now and will be much, much better than you at the game. It'll take awhile for you to catch up.

This is something to consider before you start playing.
