Assuming that it's less common, does that also apply to the hackintosh?

Hackintosh is generally just MacOS running on a non-Apple device. Aside from possible hardware vulnerabilities, it's not much different from the real thing virus wise.

I am planning to make a hackintosh build because as far as I know, presming that macOS does not get virus, the hackintosh will run as well and as smooth.

Common sense should be enough. Don't go to sketchy websites or download/install sketchy stuff.

MacOS gets viruses just like any other OS. It's just less common than on Windows due to how few people use MacOS, and how much less of a target it is.

You really don’t need an antivirus in macOS. Maybe do a manual scan with MalwareBytes if you know you’re going to torrent some files or browse some sketchy websites. But there is no need to have something taking up system resources.

I usually have anti-virus on all my stuff as you never know what you can accidentally click on or download that infects your computer or even a worm that gets you. Just be smart about the choices you make and decide for yourself. You don't need one but it's great compensation just in case

I fix computers for a government that is garbage. I'm also a certified security professional according to Comptia

Using my paycheck on computer parts and alcohol and since this is a tech form I'll help with computer stuff I guess
