MSI afterburner

First i was mad at MSI's gaming app because every time i installed the damn app windows would shut off in the weirdest of ways ( it took more time and with a disturbance showing at the thinking circle )

When i installed Afterburner the disturbances were gone and i was happy again, right up until the point where i discovered that it takes a lot of effort to find the optimal gpu settings

Then i was mad again because this would mean that i had to install the gaming app again to make use of the gaming and oc stance because recreating them based on the values given by msi just didn't seem to cut it

Today i was happy again because i found an option on the afterburner screen that lets you scan for the best oc values, even adding a curve to my afterburner settings

does this make me weird? or does this show newbieness?

Seriously though, you don't need any gaming app in fact that's garbage indeed but MSi Afterburner is the best tool for overclocking a GPU, although the correct way is no 'auto-oc' you'll never get the most like this.

Rather it's really a workful trial and error seeing what's the best possible balance between power limit, fan curve, core clock and memory clock to provide you the overclock using a stressing tool such as Superposition or Heaven Benchmark.

But this is for those who enjoy this kind of thing, if you just want to go game and don't care about it much, autos are fine :P

auto world seems to be mighty fine now and then. with auto world come 2 apps for the mobo, 3 to be precise of which i can use 2 to control both fan speed and cpu. the other one is gaming button that cuts down on redundant services. then there is the windows power scheme and afterburner ofcourse. So if i truly want to do something then i need to set fan control on performance, cpu on oc and windows power scheme on performance and i'm good to go... worst part is since the new updates the 1060 runs 10 degrees cooler without breaking a sweat anymore… cpu remains stable at 45 - 50 degrees so i feel absolutely no need for any ocing… during my favourite gaming sessions the cpu never rises above 30% cpu usage so there you have it. ofc this is just an estimate identifying values that shouldn't valued like this but oke… Oh and there is also the memory settings app! ( xmp and such )
