Intel/SO-DIMM question

I barely Intel, and I don't really SO-DIMM - was given an OptiPlex 3040 with an i3 6100T, currently Windows 10, Netflix, browser and an app or two open are taking up 2.5-2.7 of the 4gb DDR3 1600.

 

A second stick is $20 shipped - will the performance gain be noticeable having both slots occupied?  Or would it be not noticed given my use case (hooked to a projector for streaming movies) - Im completely unsure how this generation of intel cares for dual channel (is this still considered dual channel in a mff?  I just don't know lol)

Intel CPUs, at least with four or fewer cores, don't see an appreciable performance impact with RAM speed.

For just streaming movies / projector ... 4 GB of memory is enough and having memory work in dual channel mode (by installing 2 sticks) won't make any difference.

If you're gaming on that, adding 4 GB of memory to have a total of 8 GB would help. Having dual channel would also help a bit.

 

Dual Channel memory may help if you're compressing data (7zip , rar) often,  may help a tiny bit of you're converting videos (for example if you use pc to stream movies to TV and they're re-encoded/re-packaged in real time to a format the TV likes) often using software encoders (won't make any difference if you use gpu encoding)

THANK YOU!  Very informative.  No gaming its a micro form factor, and I have a few other PCs Id game on first.  At first I was going to get the stick because its $20, and 8gb minimum kind of mindset, but after getting everything set up I couldn't see a realllll reason beyond saying I have 8gb.
