I have 2 laptops at home. But they are a POS... One is a Vostro 15", circa ~2003, thing is falling apart. Hinge broken, Battery dead, old old hardware. Think it has a Celeron or C2D in there. I also acquired a Lenovo ThinkPad L430. It was a refurb system, but it is slow, battery is dead.

I also have a tablet, a Lenovo Tab2. Bought it maybe 3 years ago. I barely ever use it. Yet I sort of hate Android. (well, I have it on my phone, but I don't use it except for calls and texting, web searching when needed)

If I can sell those 2 (Vostro is kind of a throwaway) items for close to $100 each, I can get a very good, newer 2-in-1 laptop for around $200-300.

Second thing, I want an AMD CPU in it. These days, I just hate Intel... (don't ask)

Lastly, it has to have good Linux support. I am looking at using Arch. ArchLabs to be precise. Currently run Mint 19.1 on my main system.

I will use this system basically for web surfing, watching a few YT videos, and very very light gaming.

Think I said everything, any questions ask!

I have to warn you: boycotting Intel limits where you can choose from, not having enough budget further restricts what you can choose: you might not be able to afford the latest Ryzen series laptop, and the older but cheaper Excavator-based CPU are just not good enough.

That said, if you still want to continue, here are a few things you might find interesting:

Dell has a few of those kind of devices in clearance or certified refurbished for around $234 to $338. Or a brand-new one for $259. They will not offer the most amazing performance, but will fit your need.

If you are willing to forgo the touch function and shell out slightly more, you can get the cheapest Ryzen laptop: the Acer Aspire 3 for $299 on staples. It's slightly more expensive and without touch, yet better in many ways.

IMO the Acer one is the best value since it offers much more performance, both in terms of compute and graphics, than those old Excavator chips.

It's up to you.

1. I doubt you could sell those laptops for 100 dollars each but wtv

2. debatable but it will probably have an intel celeron not an amd cpu

3. what type of light gaming like simple retro games or more recent titles?

im am not sure about the linux support of the two however since i dont use that

anyways based on what you siad I would either recommend this:

I doubt it. The budget is too low for a decent, new 2 in 1 model

Your best bet is to put a new battery in the l430 and use it.

If you sell those you are more likely to get 20-50 each assuming they work and are in good shape.

Nothing new in the 200-300 dollar range is even usable. Used you can pick a different thinkpad model.
