Cannot decide on a cpu and gpu.

Hey guys. New here. I’m a pc gamer and I am currently trying to build a new computer because the old one my friend gave me for free is on its last legs. So many options for cpu’s And gpu’s out there so I cannot decide. I was debating either getting a ryzen 2700x or an i5-9600k for cpu. And for a gpu either a 2070 since it’s cheaper than a 1070, or getting a 2060/1060, or the newly released 1660/1660ti. Are there any other better options out there for these two components? My budge for my computer is 1000 dollars so they play a huge important role on my budget. Thanks!

For me, either CPU is fine and go the 2070 if you can afford it.  ray tracing is going to come with the early adopters tax (nature of the beast) but it looks promising.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

Hi, welcome to the forum!

If you want people to give you tailored advice on parts it's good to include stuff like:

- Location (Country)

- Usecases (Gaming, productivity, development, combinations, etc)

- Budget (which you have included)

anyway no point getting 9600k and z-mobo at its price.

1660ti & 2060 shall give a bit more headroom for future games

I suggest something like this, by simply cutting back on the CPU and GPU you end up with a much nicer case, much nicer PSU, 16gb of higher clocked ram, a nicer motherboard, and a cooler that will handle any OC you throw at it.

The difference is that instead of a 2700x you have a 2600x and instead of an average tier 2070 you have the best of the best that there is for a 1660ti. 

He would still be ending up with a cheap and low featured board though with that spec. That board is just crap even for a R5 2600/X. The VRM is garbage on it.

 

Also not sure why you would spend more on the cooler than the actual board.

If you want to game with a normal monitor 1080p 60hz buy a 2600 + a 1060 / 2060

If you want to game like a real gamer buy a 1080p/1440p monitor 144hz and a 2070

The RTX 2070 is only around 10% or so faster than an RTX 2060 depending on the game, so not sure what your point is.
