Hello everyone! I'm stuck between two laptops. I'm not looking for a super-dooper laptop to play games like BF5 or Forza. I want something I can bring around and occasionally play games like Apex Legends or others... I'm also a student in need of a lighter laptop, as I have a G750Jm and it's a brick.I understand that I'm comparing a gaming laptop to a non gaming laptop, but what is the better choice? I've seen the 4k screen in person and it's pretty amazing, but the Rgb on the Scar 2 is just super cool to look at. Which one would you all prefer and why? Here are two laptops I've narrowed down to:

Dell XPS 15 9750: 32 GB of DDR4, i7 8750h, GTX 1050ti, 1tb PCI-E ssd, 4K touch screen.

Asus Strix Scar 2:  16 GB of DDR4, i7 8750h, RTX 2070, 512 PCI-E SSD, 144hz Non-touch screen.

Thanks!

if you want to bring it everyday to class the XPS will be your best bet but if you don't mind about slightly heavier laptop than the XPS the scar is not that bad if you dont mind about heavier backpack and not travelling anywhere on public transport. but if you are going anywhere in public transport i highly recommend XPS since if you going anywhere crowded you don't have to worry about your laptop getting crushed and the battery life will be a godsend in group task situation

TL:DR

-class first: XPS

-Gaming is important: Scar II

or if you want both but pay slight premium i recommend MSI GS65

it's slightly less powerful than the scar but it's has 2060 and slim enough and thin enough body to carry everyday

Hands down fast refresh rate screen and the 2070 the experience cannot be beat.

Memory & SSD difference can be upgraded any time.

Touchscreen, how many time will you use touchscreen?

4k on a small screen doesn't have any benefit, only if you use it close to your eyes, like a tablet.

1050ti vs 2070, that's a major difference, it's like toyota corolla vs tesla.

I was looking at the msi gs65, only issue is that I can't find a gs65 with either a 1tb pcie ssd or a rtx 2070.

That's a very good point.

Budget is $2000 usd, max weight around 5lbs, and battery life isn't too important. I won't be gaming off the charger.
