Hey, im looking to build a pc for my brother and just curious of how to get windows 10 on the new pc. He and I dont care if it is the *free* version of windows 10. But lets say  i just built a pc. and it turned on, would the os be there? Also i have a secondary ssd in my computer right now. Could i install windows on it and then once his computer is built plug it in there and have it boot. Or will having two os's on my computer screw it up. Thanks

The OS will not magicaly be there if you just build the PC.

Get USB drive and download Media Creation Tool from Microsoft.

This tool will download the newest bootable version of Windows onto the USB. You plug it into the new PC and install it from there.

Uhh... no. You have to install the OS yourself.

You'll have to download the ISO file from Microsoft's website onto a USB (you can do this on a seperate PC). Plug your USB drive into your new PC, and turn on your new PC. Then enter the BIOS and boot off the USB stick. Then go through the installation process (it's pretty straightforward, keep clicking "next"). As for activation, you can buy Windows from Microsoft (or sites like Kinguin) or just leave it unactivated (but then you can't change your background wallpaper).

I would say you get more issues by having 2x Windows on single machine than waiting and installing it once new PC is built. Also, be a man and buy software you are gonna use whole time. Compared to most of other parts in your PC, its really, really cheap investment.
