I have GTX 1060 6gb, and i kinda want to upgrade it. I mainly use 1080p for gaming, because my monitor capable to 240hz. But, if i want to change my monitor to 1440p or maybe 4k. Can my GPU still work fine ?

There's some option that i'm thinking of like:

1. Use the GTX 1060, and wait until Nvidia next gen

2. Buy 1080ti and wait again

3. Or just buy RTX

if you play First person shooters, 240hz Monitor Cannot be beat, use a 1080ti/2080/2080ti and be fine for the next 3-4 years. I reccomend 1080ti for around 450-525$ triple fan and such.

If you dont like 1080p do 1440p, better resolution and picture and can still do 144hz. DO NOT GAME AT 4k, its pointless and not nearly as enjoyable, sure it looks nice but the frames lost are simply not worth it.

i still search for a good bargain on gtx 1080ti, but overall the stock is empty ( because my region is not in US ). So i might thinking to go for rtx 2080.

If not then yes you can get a 2080, 2080ti simply isnt worth it for 15% performance for 2x the price.

About the only way you can go wrong is pairing that 1060 with a 4k panel, other than that it's all about your preference. As mentioned if you like first person shooters or other games where high fps gives more of an advantage than resolution then stay with 1080p and upgrade the gpu. If you like RPGs and other games that fps doesn't offer a significant benefit but you like them to look good then go with a 1440p or 4k monitor, and a gpu upgrade won't hurt.
