I have an Intel i5 3550 3.3GHz and I am upgrading from an Rx 460 4gb. I want to get the Rx 580 8gb, can my 3550 keep up, or should I settle with the 570? Thanks!

What does your library look like? Depending on what you play, it could bottleneck pretty bad.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

I play Fallout 4, Ring of Elysium (which runs really well on my 460), CS:GO, Left 4 Dead, Crysis 2, RE:2 Remake, the Division 2.

edit: and some Apex Legends.

I would say you should be fine with an rx 580. In some games it might bottleneck but in others it might not.

I plan on eventually upgrading my cpu as well. I got a Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p as my first pc back in 2015 for my 16th birthday and I have been building out of it since. my next step is probably going to be getting a newer motherboard and a decent cpu. as of now, I just ordered 16gb of ddr3 ram, a 650w bronze psu (semi-modular), and in April I plan on getting that Rx 580 8gb. Any suggestions on a decent budget cpu upgrade(for future reference)?

The new Ryzen stuff is supposedly coming out in a couple of weeks which makes it hard to recommend what will be a good budget CPU in the near future. Right now the AMD Ryzen 2600 (~$160 currently) and Intel i5 8400 (~$200 currently) are strong budget options. However, after the new Ryzen CPUs you might be able to find a 2700 for around $200 (just a guess).

Just a side note, if you do see a cpu bottleneck with the 580 turning down in game quality settings will not fix it (it might actually make it worse). Instead, trying turning up your quality settings to put more of a load on the GPU. I had an i5 6600 with a 970, and the only game it bottlenecked on was PUBG.
