RTX 2070 and 500w PSU?

Hi All,

I'm getting an RTX 2070, and I know that nvidia recommends at least a 550w psu for that card, but I only have a 500w psu.

This is my current PSU: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/zNK7YJ/evga-power-supply-100b10500kr

This is the card I'm getting: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814932094

I am planning to overclock, and the rest of my system are as follows:

Gigabyte b350 gaming 3 @3.9ghz

Ryzen 5 2400G

16gb 2666 Geil ddr4

2 - 320GB hard Drive

1tb Samsung Evo 850

1tb Seagate HDD 7200rpm

the psu noted above

Thank You!

Maximum wattage requirement roughly 330 watt without OC, but, I don't think those B500 Evga units are very good quality. You'd probably better off with a RTX2060, slightly better value than 2070, and more than enough for FHD gaming. Or do you play on higher resolution? I also think, there would be a little bottleneck with the 2400G.

I'd buy a new PSU, ie.: Bitfenix Formula Gold-Whisper M, BQ PP11 or something like these.

And an RTX2060 to save some money

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

First off, thanks for linking the PSU, that's rare to see.

Second, that's a rather low end PSU but I believe it would be sufficient. Your load is probably around 350 watts or so.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

The wattage is fine, though I would recommend a better PSU anyways for such a high end card

I have the MSI Armor 2070 and 500W is enough. You shouldn't go lower though.

Then you should replace the PSU with some higher QUALITY one.

You do not have that.

The Wattage is not the Problem.

The Build Quality of the PSU is.

So a better one like Bitfenix Formula is recommended.

Nvidia also said RTX and DLSS would be amazing.

A good quality 500w is more than adequate.

The 2060 is about the same performance as the 2070 for much less. With the money you saved + 35$ extra, you could get a quality PSU such as this one that will last long as fuck (the 500B isn't exactly ideal for this type of system): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VfM323/seasonic-prime-ultra-gold-750w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ssr-750gd2
