Monitor wont go to 240hz

fongrr

I recently bought a 240hz monitor (Alienware 25inch) and i cant seem to put it on 240hz through my display setting or nvidia control panel. My rtx 2070 driver is up to date as well..idk what's wrong. I even plugged in the Displayport for the monitor but its not working...i feel like its the displayport cable. I got it from amazon and its made by Cablematters. I read reviews and it says that it doesnt support 240hz? Which is weird cause i thought all displayport 1.2 to be exact can support up to 1080p 240hz? Please help me out. This has been frustrating me...im stuck at 60hz and i cant even put it on 144hz in my display setting or nvidia control panel...

Yeah maybe it's just the Displayport cable that can't carry the 240Hz or even 144Hz signal.

I would suggest trying a new cable.

Make sure you select refresh rates from the PC section of the list if you're using NVIDIA control panel.
