I see alot of youtube building pc with e8400 or e8500.following components are common for all youtube video.

-e8500
-GIGABYTE  GTX 750 2GB 128Bit GDDR5
-Zebronics Motherboard ZEB-G31 Socket   775
-2 Gb Dddr-2 667 Mhz Pc 5300 x2

Is it really worth at small price? Is it good for any kind of gaming?

Price ≠ Value

Indeed it's dirt cheap and will run some older/lighter games with a sensible/moderate setting under 1080p at 30+ fps, it's just won't cut it for most of the recent modern triple-A titles.

I bet it'll max out Undertale. And if you're lucky, you might be able to run Minecraft at the lowest render distance and get a whole 60 FPS after installing Optifine. Or turn up the render distance and reach a cinematic 20 FPS. The possibilities are endless.

Or, enjoy games like Sid Meier's award-winning Civilization V. Outwit your opponents while the game outwits your CPU in this classic turn-based strategy game.

But seriously, even if it's dirt cheap, if it can barely do the thing you built it to do, it's not worth it. Try Sandy Bridge, instead? Or if you must get a 775 board, get a Core 2 Quad.

Core 2 quad is definitely better choice. But is it really good? I think,It will be good for work.but Games usually uses 1 core performance rather than multi core.

Between core 2 quad and e8500 , which is good at single core performance.

(Correct me if I'm wrong)

This was true maybe over 10 years ago. Many games now use multiple cores.

As hardware has improved, software has been designed to take advantage of the newer hardware. Single core performance is no longer the end-all be-all it once was.

Probably the E8500. However, with only two cores, it'll choke on newer games. It also has the operating system that's running in the background.

The Core 2 Quad will probably give somewhat lower averages but much higher minimums at worst, or just higher averages and minimums altogether depending on the game. If a stutter festival is what you want, get the E8500. But if you want things to be consistent and enjoyable, get more cores. Also get more RAM.

How about Xeon e5430 ,it has 4 core 4 thread 2.667 clock speed,12mb cache tdp 80w. As core2quad q9400 also has 4 core 4 thread 2.667 clock speed,6mb cache tdp 95w.

Start coughing up dough. Modern day computer has come far ahead enough that even a dirt cheap modern machine will outperform a dirt cheap used one from 10 years ago.

Yaa.I know modern computer has come far ahead.I'm not compare old ones with new ones. I just want to see want is possible in low budget.

Get an am4 motherboard, get a cheap ryzen 2200G Apu, and 4-8 gigs of ddr4. It already outperforms that used system of yours in both graphics and CPU performance.(2200G outperforms both the original Xbox and PS4) The rest of your system can all be used parts.

CPU is massive bottleneck there. Also 2gb of RAM isn't enough for modern work loads in office applications either. Just using Chrome and Excel at the same time would be too much. Not to mention having Outlook open.

Games will depend. But if you want to play anything released after 2010, having 4 cores is massive improvement.

Xeon is better, but it also uses server board. Meaning different socket. And while you can get aftermarket coolers that still support LGA775, having aftermarket coolers on server boards wasn't a thing back in the day. (Overclocking and so on)

Seems like you are honestly broke. I spend more on my monthly groceries and food than your $150 used PC. Put aside $$$ each month I guess.

Your used PC won't be able to game any more than a modern day $150 Intel atom tablet.

Wasab,You misunderstood something. I'm not trying to build this system. I just wanted to see why these days many youtubers claim this system to be the best under this budget.

YouTubers also upload videos of UFO and claimed they've seen aliens. Tech is a fast pace arena. Any videos older than 1 year old is no longer relevent or valid.
