micro atx cases are smaller, less room to work/for components. what components are you planning to use?  Personally ive always perferred mid towers tho

Ok lets go through all the common case buzzwords

Micro atx case-supports micro atx mobos (not atx), typically smaller than midtowers

Midtower case-typically a bit bigger than micro atx case and almost always supports full size atx boards (atx formfactor is compatable in such a way that any case that supports atx can most likely support micro atx and mini itx.

Fulltower case-These are cases bigger than midtowers that support up to either atx or eatx mobos

Omega-  I5 6600k | Gigabyte GTX 1060 | Cougar Panzer | DDR4 16GB 3000MHz | MSI Z170 Gaming M5

               EVGA 650 GQ | AOC 60Hz Freesync Panels x2 | AOC 144hz Freesync Panel x1

Epsilon- I7 2700k | Asus GTX 970 | Corsair 780t | DDR3 8GB 1600MHz | EVGA Z68 FTW Mobo

               Corsair 750W G2 | Acer R240HY x2

Upsilon- i7 5500u | 6GB DDR3 | 720p 60Hz panel

Basically depends on what you want to do with your system after the building part is over.  If you just want to watch YouTube videos, read email, or browse the web, then a micro ATX is fine.  But if you want to build a system that you can do things with besides the items listed in the above sentence, then you may want to consider something a little bigger.  It's hard to fit a full size video card such as a 1070, 1080 or one of the newer cards such as a 2070 or 2080 in such a small box.

A mid-size case allows the builder to do many things with his system.  Such as adding more than on SSD or HDD or something along the line of setting up a raid system, or multiple video cards.  You just have a lot more options with your system when you use a larger case.  I'm not saying that you must get a full size case because they can get big, but like you said in your initial statement asking about a mid-tower case, that can do a lot more for you in the long run than a small one like micro-ATX.

I know that but I don’t know if there is a difference in performance

its a case... the only issues would be thermals, but most decent micro atx cases can fit adequate cooling in them
