Since a few days ago steam began showing me "Disk write error" every time i tried to update anything. Also i couldnt install the newest windows update for the same reason (at least i think) so i went and reinstalled windows and the update one was fixed but the steam one wasnt. Reinstalled windows, reinstalled client, tried to reinstall the games it put out the errors for and the error reappeared. Help me because i tried everything and i cannot access all the games i have on there

Other apps not installed via steam install with no errors to the same drive

Only time I've ever had that message was when I ran out of space on the drive. Any chance it's full?

@CatCam1 have you tried closing steam then opening steam by right clicking steam.exe and run as administrator?

Seems to have fixed the issue for some people.

i have fixed the problem but even i dont know how.

Steps

-reopen steam

-reopen steam w/ admin

-restart pc

-reopen steam w/admin

-reinstall steam

-reinstall windows

-install steam

-open w/ adm

-reinstall steam x5

-command prompt to change readonly status

-reattached hard drive

-reset router

-tried a different isp (mobile data)

-replug all the important cables

-wipe the empty space on the drive via ccleaner

-run ccleaner cleaner

-run antivirus

-disable firewall

-disable antivirus

-optimized and defragmented the drive

-ran memchk

-switched some drive settings in the bios

-reinstall steam

-open steam

-verified game files

-verified steam download

-changed the drive directory to another drive

-reversed everything to its natural state cause it wasnt working

then after i gave up i went and randomly restarted my computer with everything reversed back except the windows reinstall and it somehow works now

The list is looong...
Have you tried checking the filesystem integrity?

chkdsk /F should solve the problem
