HTC Vive link box

i got a htc vive from a friend for a favor as he is waisting his money on a vive pro but i get a free vive. he doesnt have the link box and im wondering if it is anything but a hdmi to mini DP, usb female to female, hdmi female to female and a power female to female adapter with a logo. do i need it or can i plug it in to the pc or do i need it.

I think it also has circuitry in for the wireless boxes that determine where you are and what you are doing, and the remote controls. So I would almost guarantee you need it.

seeing some mixed information about what is in this box, but it doesnt seem like an absolute necessity... wouldnt stop HTC from building in some hardware checks for it tho..

i dont think so becasue the wierless boxes dont plug into it.

my only issue is it is like $30 and i dont feel like spending $30 on something that serves no pourpos

and it wastnt exsactly free i had to drive like 14 hours
