How do I remove a recovery drive.

Hi,

The other day I wanted to make a system image backup and mistook the backup feature for the "Create a system backup image". Therefor my external HDD is now a backup drive. Is there any way to remove the drive from the backup feature?

Here's a screenshot. It's the Maxtor drive I would like removed.

Type "diskpart.exe" in the search box, in the listed results, right-click on Diskpart and select Run as administrator.

At a Diskpart prompt, type in "list disk" to display all the disks. Each disk on your computer will be listed with a disk number.

Specify the disk that contains the recovery partition by typing in "select disk n", in which "n" should be replaced with the disk number listed before.

Type in "list volume" to list all the partitions on the selected disk with all the partition labels, so you can determine which one is the recovery partition to be deleted. If you want to see the partition type, use "list partition" command instead.

Specify the partition you want to delete using the volume number, like this: "select volume 3".

 Type in: "delete volume".

this is for windows 10 btw

you windows 7 or 8 or 10?

Win 10. I think I wasn't clear enough. The thing I want is the disk removed in the control panel so that it doesn't show up as a recovery drive at all. It's inside the "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)" feature. I already deleted the partition. It's a small thing, but my OCD can't take it ?

windows button + r then %appdata% then local then temp and delete every file there

if it says some files cannot be deleted then just leave them

Did it start a new backup (as in trying to run now) or bring up the configuration menu to create a new backup set?
