DVI-D -> DVI-D or DVI-D -> HDMI would accomplish the same things and are, in theory, better than VGA because they are digital standards; rather than analog standards.

Sometimes VGA can look kind of fuzzy, sometimes it's not issue at all. The cables are noticeably more expensive; because you need an active converter.

 

DVI-D and HDMI are both the same sort of video signal, which is why it doesn't matter which one of the two you pick. Just pick the cheaper cable I guess.

Or choose DVI -> DVI, because you might want to use the HDMI in the future to connect a secondary device to your monitor, like a laptop or console.
