PS/2 and usb keyboard

Go to solution Solved by BobVonBob,

Not without software that can differentiate them like LuaMacros. Windows sees all keyboards, PS/2 or USB, as the same without something like that.

Hello,

I want to use macros on my keyboard and normally use an old PS/2 keyboard. If I now add a usb keyboard will windows see them as the same or will I be able to put macros on the usb keyboard while I keep using the PS/2 keyboard normally?

Thank you for your time

Unless the keyboard software specifically has a function that makes it so every keyboard is a different keyboard: Windows will see all keyboards as the same one.

If you want to know more info on keyboards seen as other keyboards, see this video:

Long(ish) story short, to accomplish what you want to do, you can do one of these 3 (probably more) things:

- get a Corsair or Razer keyboard, next to your main board and in that manufacturer's software you can just attach different commands to the keys

- use a program such as intercept to make it so your keyboards are seen as different ones (read more here: https://github.com/TaranVH/2nd-keyboard)

- get the product they were also talking about in the above video.

By default, all keyboards are the same button as far as Windows cares.
