Building new pc need help with GPU

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

If you can justify the extra cost, 2060 comes with more cool, but gimmicky technology

For a PSU something like a Corsair TX550M 80+ gold would be perfectly fine

For a case something like a Phanteks P400 or H500 from NZXT (they are both great options)

I'm building a new pc, but i havent decided on everything just yet. Most importantly the gpu. I'm still waiting for the gtx 1660 ti to hit my market and see the price. But i wanted to ask on your guys opinions on whats better. Prices for the RTX 2060 here are looking in between 390-510 euros depending on which brand etc...I'm estimating a price of around 320-340 euros for the gtx 1660 ti.

Currently the build is looking like this:

CPU: i5-9600k

COOLER: Be quiet! dark rock 4 or Scythe Mugen 5 rev.B

RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz 16GB (2x8) CMK16GX4M2B3200C16

MB: MSI Z390-A PRO

GPU: RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 ti

SSD: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB(from my prev pc)

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200 rpm

PSU: ???

CASE: ???

Also which brand is the best of each respective card?

PS: for 1080p gaming

Thanks

The brand doesn't matter as much as some people may have you believe. Sure there are some slight differences, specifically in overclocking capabilities and some may have three fans and some may have two fans but underneath it's all pretty much the same. What monitor do you have and what refresh rate are you comfortable with playing at?

ehhhhhhhh I guess, it really just depends on how well made the card was, too. There are brands that make really solid cards like the Asus Strix ROG OC, and EVGA's top of the line cards are really good, too.

There are brands that make pretty shitty cards so I would say it matters but one of the reasons EVGA gets suggested all the time is because of their customer service.

The 1660 ti or the 2060 will run well with that monitor for 1080p gaming but if you're looking to future proof (in case you decide to get a bigger monitor with a higher resolution) you may want to go with the 2060 or even the 1080 ti.
