Now 17 yr old created Target Hack

TymmVonD

I found this article. Who know if it's propaganda or if it's factual...but now, 17 year old Russian kid,Ree4, developed BlackPOS program which intercepted credit and banking data stored in RAM on Windows based POS system in Target. Also claims 5 other undisclosed retailers were affected. To me, this sound like media propaganda. We think these thieves are stereotypical adult hackers. We paint a picture of what we think happened. We're outraged how a company can let this happen. Then I hear this story...and I'm like, "Hey, a 17 year old kid did this?", and your feelings have changed. The picture in our heads is different. Wow, that's impressive. Sounds like a scapegoat to lessen the blow that impacted shoppers. Who knows? May be legit...

If this is true, I'm even more angry at Target. If a 17 yo kid can walk into your IT infrastructure, you really are doing something wrong.

I'll take it one step further. If you are as large as Target is, if a SINGLE person can do that, regardless of age.. They are doing something terribly wrong.

He developed the hack from code that's been around since 2005. He supposedly sold the software on a forum.

Either you get the job or go to jail. Seems kinda risky. If he wants a job, then he should hack Target again, but this time just do nothing except stay in the system. Eventually someone will notice him and he'd probably be the best person to fix the security hole.

Finally my Santa hat doesn't look out of place

If you job is being on of the people who a company hires to search for exploits into their own stuff, that would be an amazing resume builder.
