So I'm having a bit of a weird issue on My secondary PC and am in need of assistance, lol. Because, I can only hear some of Windows 7's system-sounds and absolutely nothing from a few programs like Google Chrome (..and even Internet Explorer) and a couple others.

I've tried using the headphone-port on My monitor, still only certain system sounds. I've tried using the headphone-port on the front of the PC-Case/System and can still hear only certain system sounds. I've tried using the Red/Green/Blue ports on the back of the PC and still only certain system sounds.

In the volume mixer however.. it does show a green bar obviously meaning that the sound is working but not to My headphones xD So I'm confused.

I've also tried updating the sound-drivers as well..

Any other methods I should try?

Thanks

Yup. I updated them in Windows.

updated does not equal remove and reinstall..

go to the manufacturer's website, download the latest audio drivers for windows 7, remove all traces of the old driver (uninstall it, remove the drivers for any audio devices that depend on it), reboot, install the driver again, reboot.

What happens when you right-click the sound icon in the Task Bar, and left-click Open Volume Mixer? What applications show up there? What are the volume levels? Do you know if any applications are taking exclusive control of your audio as of now? Sorry for the flurry of questions...

That's part of the problem, Volume Mixer (..via Taskbar) shows up with multiple Speaker outputs and I can't tell which one I need lol :P Otherwise I would. Would take ages to download multiple drivers to try and find the right one.

In the Volume Mixer (..via Taskbar), Google Chrome does show a green bar when audio is being played, for example.. a YouTube Video but I can't hear it throughout My headphones on the various Speaker Outputs listed. One thing I have noticed though since an hour ago (When I made this topic) is that VLC is now suddenly working, somehow.

And another thing as well, could it be a Program-specific-setting(s)..? I can't really see much in Chrome's settings.

go to the website of your motherboard manufacturer, select your mobo, select drivers, select windows 7, select audio

then remove all audio drivers

then install the newly aquired audio drivers.

EDIT: also, "device manager" is a thing ;)
