ltx question

ok so i recently got a job, i make decent money but im trying to save what i can to make it to ltx, i live in florida so i would have to pay for a flight and hotel as well as public transport around the city, lets say i purchased a standard ticket to ltx now so i have one incase they sell out but if for some reason i cant go would i be able to refund it or get my money back?

Depends.

 

Conventions don't work like that. You can't just say "hey I didn't go can I get my money back" because they still had to plan the event as if you were going. You might be able to get a refund if you ask reasonably early, perhaps a month or two before? But shortly before/during/after the event there's no way.

 

That being said I'm not organizing the event, and I don't think there's an official stance on this sort of thing as of now.

i dont mean during but the event happens late in july so earlier on like july 1 or so if i cant make it would a refund be possible?

Like I said, maybe. At current time there isn't really any information about this.

What does it say when you bought it?  The fine print on the contract you signed at purchase.

 

It's all in there.  But can probably sell the ticket to a third party worst case.

i didnt buy one yet becaise i dont know if i can get my money back in the event im unable to go

You should be able to go thru the purchase process and get all the info you need prior to hitting the PURCHASE button.  Almost all tickets are set up this way, concerts, plays, sporting events, Circque De Soleil, DragonCon, etc.  

 

I can't imagine LMG doesn't use the standard legal template for conventions.

If you would buy ticket via some 3rd party, those might have option to insure ticket with extra cost. Meaning that seller will give you 70% of money back or something like that. Full if event is cancelled (minus cost of insurance and handling).

 

But for direct things, once its paid, you can't refund. You can sell ticket, thats usually allowed and not enforced in any way.
