New Card, Worse Performance

I recently bought and installed an MSI GTX 1060 6GB OCV1 as an upgrade from my  EVGA GTX 750 FTW. The new card can barely run the games my 750 could run perfectly smooth. The games are also very unstable, crashing often. The interesting thing is with most games I get an issue about memory even though I now have 6gb vram instead of 1gb. I’ve tried clean installing the GPU drivers multiple times. I’m thinking of factory resetting the pc :/ (system is also very slow)

CPU: i7 2600k 3.4 ghz

GPU: MSI GTX 1060 OCV1 6GB

RAM: 8GB DDR4

STORAGE: WD10EALX (1TB, 7200 RPM)

OS: Win 10 Home

Nvidia

However I did it once through and Nvidia and once I manually removed the driver through windows

Use a driver cleaner to wipe out the old driver, and install new drivers fresh. "Clean Install" of drivers doesn't clean the old drivers out well.

Use, reboot, cleans, reboot, reinstall Nvidia drivers

Make sure your computer sees the new Video card. Sometimes they will default to the onboard intel video. 

(Right click desktop go to nvidia settings) see if the Nvidia video card is selected. 

 

Also Obligatory check drivers.

My computer and Nvidia see the card and recognize it

When you go into the Nvidia control panel does it show that the pc is choosing to use the NVIDIA GPU?

are you definitely sure that applications are USING the gpu though? check that your video cables are in the gpu, you should also be able to disable the intel integrated graphics in device manager so only the graphics card is being used

also as everyone is saying, use DDU

Sometimes game crashing just to desktop but sometimes it crashes to a black screen and I have to force restart using the power button

Hmmmm... long shot but what size power supply do you have?

 

Usually not enough power on the line causes failure to boot or unexpected crashes.

Is it crashing at a time that would be "graphically intensive" 

The 1060 requires 120W or more if I'm not mistaken

the gtx 750 only used 50 watts 

(I know this isn't usually the cause of these kinds of issues but you've already exhausted my first guesses)

csgo on 1060: 100 FPS with spikes

on 750: 250 smooth
