Will it bottleneck?

Another one of these threads, right? I was wondering if a AMD Phenom II X4 910 would bottleneck a GTX 770 or 780, if I plan to upgrade some stuff later on. Just a little curious, is all.

Oh yea. Most certainly. The Athlon X4 740 almost bottlenecks the 770, let alone the 780. Just imagine how your Phenom would be.

Yes it will. I have a amd phenom x4 965 BE and it bottlenecks 6870's in cfx. originally it ran with my 4890's.

your going to want nothing less than a 8320 for that much graphics horsepower.

The 1055t might but bottleneck the 770, but probably wont.

your going to want nothing less than a 8320 for that much graphics horsepower.

All my stupid motherboard support are the lower end Bulldozer and Piledriver CPUs.

Would a 760 be much of an upgrade from a 660 SC? Overclocked to the walls on both, of course.

It would be an upgrade yes, but it won't be that noticeable.

well, 660 sli would be pretty strong upgrade, and cheapest, ofcourse there will be little bottleneck.

 

fact is, 660 is around 160 -170$, then you got 130 left that you can buy better cpu with. what is your mobo, am3 ?

Right now I have a crappy AM3+ mobo (Bulldozer/Piledriver, most Phenom/Athlon II's, 1 PCI-E x16 2.0 POS), and a CX430M.

 

I thought you were saving for a completely new rig have you decided against it?

No, just money is slow, and I'd rather have an "okay" rig for now and a kickass one quite a while later, than a piece of crap for now and a kickass one a little sooner than later.

Because it depends on what ressources an application needs.

Run crysis 2 in ultra 4k and you will have no bottleneck :lol:

 

99% of the time its a bottleneck though.
