Should I get it

So on a whim I decided to look at GPU prices today, Radeon VII's are still $699 and out of stock; which I also wanted to wait for better drivers and 3rd part cards. BUT, the RTX 2080 I've been looking at (Strix OC) is on sale for just close to $100 off; and it comes with Battlefield V and Anthem on Newegg. The sale ends in 12 hours.

 

Should I wait for 3rd party Radeon VII's and better drivers, or do I do it and get the meme that RTX is?

If it's a decent price while on sale, I don't see a reason not to buy it if you're on the market for new GPU.

As far as we know right now there will be no 3rd party Radeon VII cards for a while, although PowerColor apparently has plans for some.

Buy it right now, 2080 is better than Vega II and you also get two pretty good games.

There wont be any third party cards for the VII, no board partner has any plans to make one

Newegg has been having some awesome RTX 2080 deals through their ebay store.  I got their gigabyte 2080 when it was on sale for $630.  Pretty sweet value especially if you are gaming at 1440p (getting into the 120-140 range on a lot of my games, 80-90 on new tomb raider).  

 

Add to that the fact that you were (if true) already going to buy BFV and Anthem?  Then it's for sure an awesome deal (though should compare to the bundle of games for radeon VII if you were looking at those games I suppose).

Also as an aside it is VERY quiet (Gigabyte windforce version), and even with fans on their passive mode (they don't really kick up much until 50), it still only gets up into the mid 70's at full utilization on this card, I have never seen it in the 80's.
