i mean, used will be the best bet... but i can try for a new build. it is gonna be really low tho. i would honestly suggest trying to reach it up to 500 or go used with 300.

this is honestly the best i can do... but without the ssd, you can save some money. however, i don't know how good of an experience this will give, but games will be able to be played at 1080p, however i would recommend playing at 1600x900 or lower res.

no case, so add 20-30 for that, you are still under budget, but that ram will severely hurt the already weak cpu.

I can't come up with anything suitable new for $300. Your best bet is an Athlon 200GE with an A320 board and no GPU, but at that point you might as well be dropping an R7 240 into a toaster.

 

Used is the way to go. Grab yourself an Optiplex 390 MT with 8GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and an i5-2400. That should run you $120-150. Sell the i5 and buy an i7-2600. You'll get $25 for the i5 and spend $80 on the i7, so your net cost is up to $215. You can save the processor upgrade for later if you don't have that now.

 

With your remaining funds, pick up a GTX 1050 Ti. The stock PSU can handle it, and you should be able to find a used one for $80-ish. Bingo, a hair under $300 with an i7 and a 1050 Ti. If you hold off on the i7, you're even lower and can tack on a brand new 480GB Inland SSD. You're not going to find all these parts overnight, and you'll have to wait and pick your deals, especially for the GPU. What you'll end up with is a system that's about as pretty as Hillary Clinton, but it'll get the job done and vastly outperform any APU build.

Newegg Z400 Workstation with a Xeon X5690 CPU (6 core 12 threads) for $220 shipped just needs OS (can be free) and an HDD and monitor to get rolling.  Typically comes with a Quadro 1700 which CAN game.  You can easily keep this under $300.

I know, I get it, and your system is actually really damn solid for the money. Congrats on that. The problem is that a 2200G, for all the love it gets, is on par with something like the GTX 260 or HD 7750. I don't consider it to be a viable GPU for games more intense than LoL, DOTA2, Rocket League or Hearthstone.

Even still, some people don’t want an SSD (like myself), and at $300, there’s no point in it. If OP wants a fast build, then $300  is not a good place to set his/her budget.

i mean weak in the terms from where you are putting slower ram where it gets a lot better. and weak in terms of pitting it against anything else in ryzen's lineup. its the same as saying the i3-8100 is weak in comparison to the 9600k.
