I got to 1100Mhz on the Core clock and 1500Mhz on the memory clock.

Haven't really tested a higher memory clock, do you think I can push it further on the memory clock?

The 1,1 Ghz on the core clock seems to be final though.

Edit: Ok nevermind suddenly 1100Mhz is casuing issues... 1080Mhz/1500Mhz new max now :C

You could probably push the memory further. 1100MHz is nice.

My old 7970 only hit 1050MHz on the core, and it got 1600MHz with the memory.

Ah..... If you're trying to overlock properly then I would highly recommend running a graphics benchmark/ play a game every 10 MHz to test if your overclock will be stable. No point going even more if your current overclock crashes.

At the moment I'm trying to push my 7970 to the max, in order to increase performance in my heavily modded Skyrim.

I use Skyrim to test it out.

Ok i tried it with 1100/1600Mhz and 1100/1050Mhz no luck unfortunately, got black screen both times. Seems 1100/1500 is final :(

That's not my point, if you just push it by 50-100 MHz you won't know when the GPU will be stable. By going up by 5- 10 MHz if it crashes then you will know your sweet spot.. At 1100 MHz you won't know what clock will be stable. It could be anywhere between 925 - 1100 MHz. Which basically means starting from step one.

Anyways, you don't have to use my advise by just use Skyrim to test your overclock.

Depends on the chip and the amount of voltage is allowed...you could reach 1200MHz+ on the Core and 1500MHz - 1600MHz on the memory.

Typically, on air, the 7970's can go 1100MHz - 1150MHz and if you're lucky 1200MHz (and areas around that) on the Core.

IMO, 1100MHz / 1500MHz is pretty good. I personally don't mind settling on that if that's as far as the card will allow on air or not using any mods.

From my experimenting and testing so far with my own HD 7970 (Sapphire Dual-X), I'm able to reach 1140MHz on the Core. Anything above and "odd colour flashes" occur while running Unigine Valley....seems to work fine beyond 1150MHz while gaming though. 1480MHz and 1500MHz on the Memory working okay for me so far.

I'm sure my particular chip can handle more, but I'm limited to a max of 1.300V and the Vdroop is INSANE. Temperature is not an issue as the Dual-X cooler is able to keep the temperatures Loooow.

(I'm wondering if connecting the Molex connection on my motherboard for my PCI-Express slots will help with my Vdropp issue)

It's on the bottom of the card above the PCIe connection.

I've checked now, I got a rev 2.1 7970 OC.

My voltage is locked as well, I just increased max power by 20%.

the power slider actually does nothing due to voltage lock, a higher overclock is only possible if you flash it with the GHZ bios, but that only adds .2v if i remember so it might give you an extra 15mhz
