If you currently don't have a PC, then go ahead and buy the R5 2600 in two weeks.

Otherwise, wait until Q4 this year to decide what CPU to buy.

I do have a pc but it has an i5 760 (first Gen) and a gtx 980 so a high bottleneck and is the 3000 series am4? And is it such a performance increase in gaming between 2600 and 3600

Please stop asking questions regarding the performance of 3000 series Ryzen CPUs. They haven't been released and we don't have performance numbers.

You have a PC right now. So take my advise (or don't, idc) and wait until Zen 2 chips hit the market to decide what CPU to get.

And btw, you're completely ignoring my comments and you keep asking new questions.

Yes 3000 series should be on am4 .

Even with your 1st gen i5 , personally I would be still temped to wait until zen 2 release before buying . If you simply cannot wait try and go for a 2700. I think you will get much more life out of that than the 2600 for no other reason than the increased core count . Which is where thing appear to be heading going forward for the time being .
