Vega 64 random black screens

I did clean instal of OS. Just OS, drivers and browser.

Win 7 pro. Crash after couple of hours.

Win 10 LTSC 2019 seem stable. (Read no crash yet. I have not time this week to spend at PC.)

Same issue here with my new Asus Arez Striz Vega 56... Crashes during game with Waterman failure.

Yes it is dumb as it sounds.

The only solutions that works is the driver 17.11.1

Or GPU BIOS if you are lucky. Not my case for my Asus Vega 56 Strix 8G.

On other forum i got this advice.

I dont know why but with latest drivers 20.2.1 it seems stable (last 5 days)

as the problem of AMD Vega 64 cards going into black screen with high fan speeds I am resurrecting this old thread with 2 solutions that will work for people who web search for an answer and end up here.

 

You can either use the driver 

radeon-software-adrenalin-18.5.2-win10-64bit-may31

but the game GFx will not look as good on your monitor

or you can use

win10-radeon-pro-software-enterprise-20.q3.1-sep11

and TBH I've not noticed much difference in game GFx and current Adrenalin drivers (sans black screens)

Both drivers were found on the AMD web site at the time of writing, but as links have a habit of changing I've only told you the name of the driver.

 

 

Before you install the driver you have chosen you may as well clear out the drivers causing the crashes
