Smartwatch?

Are smartwatches still a thing? I've been considering getting one bc I don't have an actual watch and where I am most of the time it would be in poor taste to pull out my phone to check the time etc.

Last time I was around the block for tech Motorola (I think?) had just released one etc.
Hell even smth like a fitbit where it's a band would do. As long as it can pair w/ phone to switch songs and show message previews.

Amazon just has a bunch of bootleg ass lookin ones, so I'd like some suggestions from people who have kept up on that kind of stuff.

I had an LG Watch Style and really liked it, I have since lost it into a 43 cubic meter container full of wood but I do want a SmartWatch again. I have a normal watch now and it does the time part much better besides the fact that it's always off a little but switching songs when driving without touching my phone is like the biggest thing I want one for again. 

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Smartwatches are still a thing. I have a first gen Motorola Moto 360 and I really like it, but the battery is almost completely dead on it.

They're very much a thing, although the market dynamics have changed since the first Moto 360 in 2014.  The gold standard in smartwatches is the Apple Watch; it's not that there aren't good rival watches, it's just that Apple is the only one that seems to really invest in their platform on a yearly basis.

 

If you have an iPhone, you get an Apple Watch... it's that simple, because it's that good.  If you're on Android, however, you do have a few options.  If you want Wear OS (formerly Android Wear), I'd lean toward newer Fossil brand watches like the Skagen Falster 2.  Otherwise there's the Samsung Galaxy Watch if you want a good general-purpose watch, or the Fitbit Versa if you want a more fitness-oriented device that happens to have smartwatch features (note: there's probably a Versa 2 coming within the next month or two).
