RTX 2060

Im looking to buy a 2060, but i cant justify the price jump from my 1060 3gb to the 2060.

In Norway the cheapest 2060 card jumped to 3900,- from 3700,- (20$ price jump) over a month.

When will cards like this maybe come on sale or drop to the pricing Nvidia came out with (3900NOK is 450$, 2060 was set to 350$(?) )

 

Note that Norwegian taxes is 25% (which is the price difference)

doesn't other countries operate with any taxes on electronics?

Why not look at the used market? You may be able to get a GTX 1070Ti or 1080 for the same price.

56 is basically the same as a 2060 in price, 64 is way too high..

I really like being able to return a card if it breaks, as it just happened to my 1060 3gb from Zotac...

Using international warranty for ASUS(example) will take a month to get a new card if it breaks.

Dont see price cuts coming. AMD's "response" is hardly competitve so Nvidia can charge as much as they desire.

I'm in British Columbia of Canada. Taking taxes into consideration then 2060 cost about $500 CAD which is $375 USD. 1070ti and 1080 both cost more than this back then, so good deal for people in my region. I only play at 1080p so I dont care about 2GB less memory

It seems like you are knowledgeable on this topic, so when i have your attention i'll just ask.

I got a i5 7400- non k and is upgrading from a 1060 3gb to anything from Rx580-GTX1070 or RTX2060. a 580 is worth what i get in credit from my broken 1060 and a 1070/2060 is about 1500NOK (230CAD) more expensive.

And in the future i would like to play in 144hz. Would i need anything more than a 580 for 144hz considering my i5?

16gb of ram of course, it if even matters

Is RX 590 reasonably priced? 1070's like nope, it's slower than 2060 and doesnt have RTX features at all, no reason to buy it at that price.

Assetto Corsa, Forza, Battlefield 1, Anthem i guess (dont have a gpu rn ), Assasins Creed,Maybe modded Skyrim, Dirt 2.0, Cyberpunk

 

The 590 is only 10% better than 580, so i dont know if its worth it.. 

 

Note: A used 1070 is about 100-120CAD cheaper than new, and we always have 5 year warranty on stuff like that by law in Norway.

Also, there is only 1 card under 400$ there!

Otherwise that website is great, i'm just afraid of bottlenecking..

Mid range cards like the RX 590 wont be very good at 144fps average for these games. Even 100fps means cutting down quality (I mean, even the well optimized Dirt 4 needs it). You'd better aim higher.

I have a 1070 and it plays high settings in most games I played (Watch dogs 2, Assassin's Creed Origins, Dirt 4, Project Cars, Far Cry 5 and Ghost Recon Wildlands) anywhere from 70fps to 100fps. As you can see, all (except FC5) are pretty harsh on hardware. That's why I think you should aim higher.

The RMA is about 2 weeks over here, sometimes even shorter.

Not quite, as the site sometimes gets prices from Ebay.

Used cards cant be compared to new ones..

 

But obviously if i'm going for the mid- range cards its going to be the 2060, as it stands out in bang for buck like the site says!

I wont be bothered with ray tracing for now, I treat RTX like a gift code for an unreleased game. I know it's there, but I dont know if it will end up being shit. I dont know if it will eventually evolve into something decent like No Man Sky.

 

It can do 1080p 100fps high settings at least in most games though, that's what I care. Add a Freesync / Gsync monitor and it will be great.

It is, but weaker GPUs can't do what you want (or for very long). It's better to push hard on one side and fix the other later.

 

3rd gen Ryzen's coming when the North gets warm (early Q3) so not a good time to buy new CPUs anyway

All the closest 2060 competitor from the AMD side has much higher power consumption (over 200W) while the 2060 is only 160W, this means difference heat they produces..

Yeah, am 100% i cant get anything over a Rx590 (AMD- side) without getting a bigger PSU, so the Vegas are pretty much out of question..

It is, but weaker GPUs can't do what you want (or for very long). It's better to push hard on one side and fix the other later.

Would a used 1070ti be worth the slow RMA over a 2060? 1070ti used is about the same as a 2060 new

in performance 2060 is slightly faster, so I'm still leaning towards the newer card.

well, at least you get 5 year warranties. I only get 2 to 3 depending on the brand, and because I'm not under Trump I void warranties if I rip the warranty-void stickers just to get rid of the bad thermal paste.

Norway got insane customer focused laws, but we pay 25% extra  dont be too bummed about your 2-3 years  

I figure i will loose warranty too, but im not overclocking either so doesnt really matter!
