Are Laptops Cheaper than PC nowdays?

I wanted to build a PC in India on the budget of around 40000 INR (560 USD)and I found that some Laptops offer 8th gen i5 processor with 1TB of storage for just around that price and it looks to me like going for Laptop seems cheaper than building a pc myself added I also get added portability of getting a Laptop.

Laptop I view was Lenovo Ideapad 130. (  http://dl.flipkart.com/dl/lenovo-ideapad-130-core-i5-8th-gen-4-gb-1-tb-hdd-windows-10-home-130-14ikb-laptop/p/itmf7aqazpxyrh26?pid=COMF7AQADWBWDXZA&cmpid=product.share.pp

Laptops are generally cheaper to manufacture due to being smaller and requiring less material in general to manufacture and lacking features that a modern desktop would have.

But it really depends, because laptop pricing is all over the place in the united states, you can get a quad core 4 thread i7 in a laptop brand new for sub $400 with 8gb of ram in some places.

Building desktops also have their own problems too, for example when you are trying to build a really cheap one if you are paying for an OS then that usually adds around $100 USD bumping up a $300 build to $400

The laptop has i5-8250U, which is low-power CPU, slower than any desktop 8th gen i5. Also it has no dedicated graphics.

That laptop is 511 USD - i5, 4GB of memory, 1TB HDD, W10... pretty sure you can get a similarly specced or even more powerful desktop for that price.

Used / old laptop maybe cheaper than a PC, but will not be as fast.

Laptop CPU are power limited, sometimes using only 2 cores (i7 included).

You can build a $300 pc that can be upgraded anytime and can beat any dual core i5/i7 laptop out there.

The 8250u is actually good, it has 4 cores and 8 threads, which was i7 specs in the past generations, i think it's the best budget cpu right now.

Coupled with MX150 its going to be a very good budget laptop.

But value wise, yes a desktop with similar money can be more powerful.

I didn't say it isn't good, just that it won't match any desktop 8th gen i5. I had a laptop, which had that CPU and it was great for gaming, even in slightly more CPU-bound games such as GTA:V. And of course, also productivity.

Yes and no. First it depends about local price. Second, in laptops' processors exist two series u and h, so many u processors dont perform well as a pc processor and many times slowly (i3 i5 or i7 brands its just marketing in this case) these are the most cheapers.

If you see i5 8250u is lower than ryzen 2200g or i3 8100

The h series are more like pc processors they perform so good as a pc processor and they are some expensive as a pc processor. But well, how you see you dont need a i5 rig to perform as a i5u laptop. You should see how much are 2200g and i3 8100 in local store and make your own build and see if its cheaper or not than the laptop u are asking for. i recommend 2200 g for its powerful integrated graphics and is cheaper than i3. Srry for my bad english bro u.u

Something everyone can use I mean there will be nothing wrong if it can run some light games but most of time the main use will be Office Applications.

Multi core performance is definitely faster, however this requires a proper tuning

Userbenchmark isn't a reliable performance comparison website

Alright I will personally go for a pc for 40000 INR probably a 1050 build. I had a Dell laptop with dedicated GPU but after 1 years of purchase the GPU was dead and from then using integrated graphics. Cooling is really an issue with the laptops if u r a gamer.

So imo instead of getting pre build laptops raise ur budget a little bit n go for a pc and u won't regret later.
