Okay, so i just bought pretty much a whole new computer, i brought my 650W gold PSU from my old computer. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/szKxq4 So, after i got everything in and connected, i plugged the PC in and nothing turned on, but after messing with wires and stuff for a little while, i noticed the computer would only turn on when messing with the 24 pin connector. So i tried starting the computer with out the GPU and only one ram stick and it worked with all 24 pins connected. So i got the OS downloaded and updated everything and then decided to put the GPU and other RAM stick in and again it wouldn't stay on. So after messing around with the 24pin connector, i found out that the computer only stays on and runs when i DONT have the extra 4 pin connector connect to the MOBO. Plesase help, i'm really worried this could cause some serious issues down the line. I'm scared to really push this computer and fry something as is.

so, the motherboard is technically able to run without the 4 pins (as you've found out) but for things like better ram clock speeds, you'll want that extra power. If you have a damaged component, it's best you replace it.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

Do you think its a must to replace something?(probably would have to replace the motherboard)

Yes, on the motherboard there are spots for all 24 pins, but my computer only runs  when i connect the 20 pins to it. *look at the picutre i posted earlier* the 4 pin connector that is to the side of the other 20pins is what i cannot plug in without it shutting off immediately.
