sata power? 3 pin plug?

Go to solution Solved by gastew15,

^^ that's the sort of thing I want, im putting a raspberry pi in a case with some hdd's so I need power in there cant have a PSU as there is no 24 pin adapter :(

That solves the problem then right? Since the board it's self can be powered by really any microUSB cord, and you can get a small hub for the HDD and just plug the mouse into that one too..

I also don't know if  this is as good, but it's available in the UK  (USB 3.0 as well) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker%C2%AE-Converter-Adapter-Cable-included/dp/B006J2L0ZM/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389871666&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=Vantec+2.5%22%2F3.5%22%2F5.25%22+SATA%2FIDE+to+USB+2.0+Adapter+-+Model+CB-ISATAU2

alright guys I had a thought, is there such cable that there is a 3 pin plug to a SATA power? I could do with one? no PSU justa plug sorta thing?

No sorry I've never seen one

Also the wall voltage is 240/110 depending on where you live, you'd need some sort of power supply to step the voltage down

I don't think that's possible. Unless they somehow use 2x 3 pins and reduce some volts.. Since a 3 pin is Ground, 5 and 12 volt. While SATA power needs 2x ground, 3.3, 5 and 12 volts

I think you said wall plug... If so..

I have an AC to DC adapter that reduces the voltage too, and turns it to molex power, then I hook up a small molex to sta adapter. VANTEC has a SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 adapter with all of that in it plus the data atapter for like $20 I think.
