I feel extremely hopeless.

Earlier today I was condensing two of my storage drives. I moved everything over from one to the other and then quick formatted the drive I planned to remove, and shut down my PC. I unplugged the quick formatted drive then booted up my pc, only to discover it wouldn't start. It went to a blue screen, giving me the CRITICAL PROCESS DIED. This worried me, so I plugged the drive back in, but my PC wouldn't start, instead it went to the same blue screen, and then eventually to the Recovery screen, offering repair options. I tried a booting into safe mode, recovering windows etc. Startup repair said lol couldn't repair your PC sucks to suck! I tried booting straight to the SSD with Windows on it but that bounced back an error of no operating system found. I appreciate any help you can offer guys! I think I broke my pinky when I slammed my desk.

Did you happen to remove/reformat your boot drive? Were there some drivers on the drive you removed or perhaps some WIndows specific files on that drive? When you say "blue screen" I'm assuming you are referring to a Windows 10 BSOD. Attempt to reboot into "advanced options" and proceed with a Startup Repair. If that doesn't fix things, try to boot into safe mode. If all that doesn't work, you might need to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows.

I would recommend to attempt to recover the files first, before messing with Windows. You can try making a bootable USB stick with a Linux distribution, or with just GParted. You should be able to see your files (unless your drive is broken and not recognized anymore), then you can copy them to another drive.

Thanks for the reply. I did remove the drive, but to my knowledge there were no windows related drivers on that storage drive, since I mostly kept my old Minecraft screen recordings on there from when I was 16. I tried start up repair but no luck, I tried safe mode... no luck :( I really don't want to lose my stuff, Otherwise I would just install a new copy of windows 10.

I'll make a flashdrive with a copy of Ubuntu. I don't have anything big enough to store files, so I may need to get an external drive.

Temporarily reinstall any operating system (Windows or Linux) onto a spare drive or flash drive.  Verify that the storage device that you transferred all your stuff onto is readable and has all the data on it. Also verify that your C drive is still bootable.

Hey man, how do I verify that C is bootable?

I believe Windows 10 requires 4 partitions to successfully boot into the operating system. You'll need to plug the drive into a working operating system and use a disk utility to verify that all four of those partitions are present.

I'll try to do this. Still I'm open to all suggestions if anyone has any other tips they want to throw out there.

this is going to be your most easy fix. install windows or an OS of your choice on a blank drive then use that os's file explore to get the data off.

There is no enemy. The foe on the battlefield is merely the manifestation of that which we must overcome. The doubt, and fear, and despair. Every battle is fought within. Conquer the battlefield that lies inside you, and the enemy disappears like the illusion it is.
