Connecting Laptop to PC external graphic card

I have made a dumb mistake taking this laptop which is having nice processor i7 8550U and 16 GB ram, I have overlooked on my graphic card Nvidia 940 MX graphic card while buying this PC. My laptop Asus Vivobook R542UQ-DM275T is having both intel HD graphics and Nvidia 940 MX 2GB, I would like to upgrade to some better performance GPU, so please help me by suggesting how to do this. Iam running low on budget to buy a new PC but instead I can spare few bucks on buying a PC graphic card, and make this laptop into a desktop setup.

That laptop only has USB-C and you need thunderbolt to use an external GPU dock, and those are really expensive anyway.

940MX is not that bad to be honest. it's on par with MX150 found in many of today's budget gaming laptop.

Don't expect too much for that price point, you better off building a pc if you want to game.

It's a lot worse than an MX150... about 40% slower than the lower wattage one and 65% slower than the higher wattage one.

 

For the price of an eGPU enclosure + GPU (even if your laptop DID have Thunderbolt 3), you could easily build a decent budget gaming PC instead.

If that's the case, sell the laptop right now and loose 10% of the original price. Rather than later.
