So my dad has had his pc for years now with i5 2400, 8GB RAM, and 1TB HDD, Windows 7. He wants to get a new pc for normal use and sometimes work & business. He also wants to have good video watching quality. He knows some components but doesn't have an idea in building and compatibility and such. So he asked me to put together parts for him with Intel. What I got right now.

CPU- Intel Core i5 8400 Hexa-Core 2.8Ghz- $193.99

GPU: ASROCK Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 560 4GB- $99.99

MOBO: GIGABYTE B360M-DS3H mATX- $59.99

RAM: Team T-Force Vulcan DDR4 3000 2x8 16GB- $89.99

Cooler: Be Quiet! Pure Rock SLIM- $25.99

PSU: EVGA 500BQ 80+ Bronze Semi-Modular

Case: Undecided

Whatever you do, make sure you get an SSD in there. That's like rule of thumb these days.

Everything looks good to last for a while, though I don't see the use of a GPU if he's not doing any gaming or things that need GPU acceleration. Also, you can probably save some money by getting slower RAM. Intel doesn't need 3000mhz.

Just add an SSD.

If you have more DDR3 lying around (get to atleast 12gb) pickup a used i7 2600 and a nice big SSD, clean install UEFI windows 10, check if the PSU needs replacing install stardock start 10 and you are good to go!
