Will this work with google wifi?

I have a router that is old and outdated and need help on getting a new one. I wanted a mesh system and was intrigued by the google wifi. I was wondering if i could use one of the extenders to get the same speeds to my computer via Ethernet. as i would using the main router connected to the modem.To explain what i have been doing, is this.I have the modem by the office computer and a 50ft Ethernet cable to my gaming computer . so to go back to the first part of the question would using one of a mesh wifis extenders we equal to a hard line cable to the main router

That really does depend on your speed. The thing that is certain, however is the increase in latency from wired to wireless. Effectively making quick operations much slower.

What was wrong with the cable anyway?

No, it would not be the same as a cable, Because its WiFi between each station. That being said, I think its 5Ghz WiFi between the main router and satellites. Which means it shoud have a decent amount of bandwidth. But there could and most likely will be at least some performance loss. That being said, you might not even notice any changes. My sister has the 3 pack of these and it seems to work very well for them.
