Hey guys,

I'm building a pcpartpicker list for my friend. He wants to stream at 1080p at least 120hz. His budget is US $1100.

I'm thinking of a Ryzen 5 2600 and RTX 2070 combo and I can't decide what type of encoding he should use to not cripple his performance that much.

Here's the build if you want to look

Thanks for your suggestions!

i'd 100% use NVENC over x264 in this case, with the new OBS version comming out soon a RTX card with NVENC encoding will give you very good quality and should not impact your gaming experience.

i'm not sure when the new version of OBS launches but the Beta version can be found here: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/nvenc-performance-improvements-beta.98950/

I don't think any streaming-service supports higher than 60FPS, or at least I'm not aware of any of them doing so.

I'm just forwarding (if that's a word) the message. I guess he wants to play at 1080p with 120 fps and stream at the same time.

NVENC uses very little CPU or GPU, so it's obviously going to have the least performance-hit when streaming. Also, this video might be of interest:

fps are not the limit, bitrate is, so technicly you can stream on twitch 120fps

OBS and Streamlabs only supports up to 60 fps, so I'm fairly certain all other streaming services are unable to surpass 60
