Build for Iracing

Hello all!

 

I have been looking into getting into sim racing for a while now and feel like it's finally time to pull the trigger. After watching a million videos and reading all the new build advice out there I think that I have finally come up with a build. Up until now, I have been a console gamer and have relatively little experience gaming on pc, but I use professional programs and act as the office/family IT most of the time. This is mostly due to others lack of familiarity as opposed to my expertise. 

 

I understand the physical portion of the build well enough, but I think that I may be overlooking some technical details as far as the components and their limitations. If you would, please take a look at what I'm thinking and let me know if I'm all f'ed up or what. This build will almost exclusively be used for iracing or other racing sims.

 

My req's:

- use iracing on one screen with the ability to upgrade to three screens.

- record and edit/upload races for youtube.

- stay relatively close to $1,000. The lower the better, but I don't want to forgo my req's.

- 1080p at a reasonable frame rate (higher than 60fps)

- stay somewhat relevant for more than a year or two before further upgrades.

Great build, maybe go for a slightly more powerful cpu

 

maybe a i5-8600k or a i5-8700k

 

they are quite a bit more expensive but they are worth the extra money

Thanks man, I was considering that, but the cost is right at my limit. Do you think it'll make a huge difference or will be good enough for a while?

Value wise Ryzen makes far more sense than an Intel CPU. Especially at that price point.

Will that require changing other components due to it being AMD?

Not really, no.

If anything, get a better GPU if you're gonna want to go 2-3 more years without upgrading.

Also, at this pricepoint, Ryzen is a much better option especially if you're planning on editing/streaming.

Different motherboard, and get faster RAM. That 750W PSU is overkill, and not of the greatest quality. If it was my build this is what I would get with a $1k budget.

The ADATA SX8200 m.2 drive is a blazing fast SSD that will make your whole system much snappier. The "Firecuda" hard drive is an SSD combined with an HDD, an SSHD. I will always recommend this drive because of it's near SSD performance and outstanding value. Of course you could go cheaper with a cheap 1 TB HDD or a 2tb HDD but, for now, you won't need much more than 1TB. Racing sims are more CPU intensive than they are GPU intensive and at 1080p it'll be a breeze.
