Budget around $400 for a editing CPU

Hey, I have $400ish to drop on a new processor for editing videos. I'm not editing in 4K, just want to be able to do what I already do but a little faster. From what I have already researched it feels like the decision comes between an i7 8700k vs a Ryzen 2700x, but if there is a better one I need help choosing

Agree, depends on what you use.. work out what your usual things you do, and go from there.

8700K, but R7 2700X should be better in other computing which needs more cores rather than SC performance. Not by much tho.
I would go with R7 2700X just to save $ and "future proof". So u will be able just to replace CPU later to 3rd or 4th gen instead of replacing mobo+cpu.

I edit with Sony Vegas/After Effects, play VR and play a little bit of League.
