When I place my PC vertically, when I play games, there are artifacts on the screen or it crashes. However, the problem disappears when I place my PC horizontally.

This is weird. Do you have an HDD or SSD.

Did I fix your problem? Please feel free to donate to me at <Link Removed>

Any donation is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Perhaps you're putting more tension onto a cable? That could be the issue (and it's something you could easily check), but it's unlikely.

Both, but the games are running off of the ssd.

When you place it on its side, is it with the GPU facing down, or up?

The pcie slot on the MB is facing up.

The power cable is all the way in.

The GPU might not be fully in the PCIe slot, then. When you're putting it on it's side, the GPU is probably just slipping back in from gravity.

Ah, this kind of makes sense, but I did put it in all the way(There was a click from the retention mechanism, and I also screwed in the pcie bracket screw.) So I guess the pcie slot retention mechanism is bad...?

maybe, I'm not sure. Just pull out the GPU and blow on the slot and connector on the GPU like a game cartridge, or look into if theres actually a way to clean it since blowing on it was apparently bad for game cards.

It doesn't seem like there is a proper way to clean the slot itself.
And I forgot to mention I tried putting the card into the second x16 slot(x8 electronically), and it was the same, which is even more weird. The probability of both slots being bad is low, that why for a while I believe this is an issue with the card.

Check all the gold contact points on the card's slot.

hmmm. You're right, it probably is the card. I doubt the motherboard slots got damaged, because if something was in the slot it would get the card messed up too.

It may be something with the card's PCB. Is your card still in warranty?

Yeah, I guess I'll RMA it then.

Look into it only google real quick, that might help you find something. What's the card's brand?

I would hope it's not the motherboard since it is Asrock. And yeah, they only offer one year warranty. So if it's the motherboard's problem, I'm basically out of luck, and even if it's not the motherboard's problem, I would still avoid Asrock for my next build purely due to the short warranty period.

That's understandable. They make some really solid motherboards, though. I do really hope it's not your motherboard, and based on the issue it probably isn't.

Solid only in terms of performance but probably not in longevity. from what I learned in one of my engineering classes, the warranty period basically means the manufacturers know that most of their products would not break within that amount of time. So 1 year warranty to me means that Asrock believes that most of their products will start to have issue after 1 year.

Yep. I've heard about that, especially with PSUs dying right after the warranty is up.

Idk there are lots of people with their ASRock Z77 Extreme4 motherboards still pushing really strong.

Probably cutting down on the warranty helps to drive their pricing more competitive, I would assume.

yeah, that would make sense. Anyhow, I wish you luck with EVGA, it shouldn't take long to get a new card or figure out the problem.
