Streaming from PC VLC to Smart TV

Hey, as the title says, im trying to figure out how to do that.

Obviously googled this before and tried Wondershare but no luck.

Any suggestions what can I do to stream movies from my PC?

If your tv support casting, then you can download the chromecast extension for chrome and then cast your screen (and thus vlc).

How about file sharing?

Enable file sharing on your folder with Read permission to Everyone.

On your Smart TV, assuming its an android, get an app called KODI.

Start KODI and click on settings > file management > add location.

Click browse and select Remote SMB > fill in smb://IP_ADDRESS/folder_name

Now in video, go to files, now click on the name of your folder.

It supports, but I can only cast my chrome tabs and cant cast my desktop and a file :(

If you don't want to go the Plex/Kodi route, perhaps Steam Link. Set it up to just start streaming from desktop and you should be good.
