Just out of curosity,

If I use best possible cooling solutions, put my system in AC room at low temperature,  how long do you think it will keep running???

a day??? a week?  a month?   a year?

Just buy a mini-fridge, build a mini itx system and shove it in there! :D

there are still too many variables to determine an accurate image of pc failure rate. you can get an guesstimate, but the hardware failure is always lurking in the corner ready to strike at any time, which will always invalidate your guesstimate.

what is the usage of your computer? please give details. you may need a different approach to keep your system running for as long as possible.

I am not gonna build it. I was just curious. Though I appreciate the gesture

you ran it for a month?? how much was the electricity bill ??

Dunno, that was like maybe 5 years ago just for science purpose, so I don't remember the electricity bill, but when I used it it was normally on, when I didn't, I put it to sleep if I remember correctly. It was idling most of the time, on load it would be drastically shorter, maybe a day.

I've a file server that has been on 24/7 since Easter before last lol

EDIT: Just occurred to me that you're asking how long it'll last at very cold temperatures which is why everyone's guesstimates are so low >_<. As someone else said, condensation is gonna be the main problem.

if the fans dont fail and the motherboard is top notch and not GPU

i would say 15+ years

ive never seen a gpu  last over 4 years since 2007

but ive seen many PCs with no discrete GPUs last a LONG time

also if ur running something like a rassberry Pi it would possibly last 50+ years if it  has a really good power source

the CPU will be the last thing that dies

normally the first thing to go on a motherboard is the VRM

If your grave doesn't say "rest in peace" on it You are automatically drafted into the skeleton war.

Waterproofing parts is not that hard.  Might take some time, but if someone really wanted to I say it's a god idea.

Why not just pick up a Phase Change cooler? It is basically sticking a refrigerator on your CPU.

my system has been on for 95% of the time since i put it together back in 2010 i rarely restart it ( maybe once every 2 - 3 months depending on windows update or if i feel its time to give it a restart) its still working if you parts decide to run forever then they will
