Hi everyone,

I am looking for a CPU for my next PC build. I am going to replace my i5 4670.
My question is: Is a Ryzen 5 2600x (or 3600x) more futureproof than a i5 9600k because of the extra threads?
I ask this question because an i7 from the same haswell family as my current CPU, is still a very good CPU for gaming. And as far as my knowledge goes, that is due to the extra threads.

Thanks for your replies!

I would say so. I would probably wait for the 3600X though, especially because it might have more than 6 cores even while having better IPC and performance per watt (since it's on 7nm).

If you have a haswell i7 I think you could wait out until Zen 2 comes out.

2600 extra 6 brains, gotta love lots of brains.

With AM4 socket you can go till the 4th generations.

9th gen intel going to change socket on the 10th.

If you have hasswell, no hurry, wait till next summer.
