I just recently got some new parts to upgrade my old PC while still using what I could from my old parts. I bought a new Gigabyte 2070, a Ryzen 7 2700, an ASRock B450 Pro4 motherboard, 2x 8GB G.SKILL FlareX ram, and and EVGA 750 G3 PSU. I kept my old case, my SSD and HDD and optical drive. After I put everything and hooked all the power and peripherals and went to turn it on for the first time, it started up but wouldn't connect to my monitor, then shut down after about 30 seconds, then started right back up immediately after. It continued doing this until I shut it down manually after a few cycles. I made sure everything was plugged in properly, and tried to turn it on again. Same thing happened. I've tried plugging the HDMI cable into the motherboard, but that didn't fix it, and so I've come here for help before I potentially mess anything else up worse

Since you bought a bunch of new parts, did you do a clean, fresh install of Windows 10?  If not, then you're driving the thing batshit crazy.  The best thing you could do with all those new parts even though you are still using the same SSD and HDD, your best bet is to still do a clean install.  Use a flash drive with the Windows Media Creation Tool and it will set up up just fine.

Good Luck.

If your old PC had an OEM copy of windows 10, that means that the copy (of w10) that you installed is locked to the old motherboard, despite it being plugged into your new motherboard. If you didn't have an OEM copy, do what @kb5zue said.

@mxk. My old copy of windows 10 was OEM, should I buy a new copy of windows?

Yeah, just get another copy of windows 10 OEM off of eBay for cheap. The old copy is locked your old motherboard so it's not usable anymore.

@mxk. Would simply putting the CD or USB in stop it from shutting off or would I have to install it within 30 seconds before it shuts off automatically, and would it fix the problem of my monitor not connecting?
