I'll make this short as possible. Assassins Creed Odyssey has had my system give me pretty underwhelming performance. I have the settings cranked to max, at only 1080p with an OC on my 9600k to 5.2 Ghz across ALL cores, 5 Ghz OC to the cache, 16 GB's of 2666 Mhz RAM and a GTX 1070 FTW2 running at 2100 MHz on the GPU Clock speed(Pretty significant overclock) and nearly 5,000 Mhz on the VRAM clock speed I get 60 FPS average(first world problem, I know) with the lowest being 31 or 32 and the highest being 102 FPS according to the in-game benchmarking tool. This is certainly a playable experience but I'm used to games playing at 100 FPS or higher on my 144hz display without the system breaking a sweat. Just Cause 4 has minor graphical hiccups(mainly to do with TSAA or SMAA can't remember) but it runs at 102 FPS - 125 typically, DOOM is incredibly well optimized so it's not up for comparison as a result but it's 1 of the titles I play the most. Call of Duty in the most intensive scenarios runs at 100 FPS or higher with the settings cranked. Am I simply being foolish and expecting too much out of my system, is Assassins Creed Odyssey poorly optimized or is it possible that my system is faulty and I'm missing something. Thank you!

Your system is fine.  A very nice box you got.  FPS should never drop to 30fps on a 1070.  Unless your @ 4k resolution or something.  1080p a 1060 can handle just fine and should yields close to 144hz.  1440p However will slow things down a nice bit.  Something is up because 31fps in FF is a joke.  The quickest possible solution I have is.  Boot into safe mode and launch DDU "Display Drivers Uninstaller" then boot back into normal mode and install latest nVidia drivers and let us know what happens.

Assassins creed is probably the hardest game to run of the newer games out now. It certainly doesn't help that it is super cpu intensive and really want 8+ cores with hyperthreading. Also it is fairly demanding of in terms of graphics as well. Your performance isn't all that surprising based on your specs.

Guess I'll be saving up for an RTX 2070 and a 9900k, sigh. Thank you.

Sorry man, but it's ok dude, it is obviously a game issue and not a hardware issue or a software tangling issue.  At 1080p max nvpanel and max in game settings should yields 144hz..... If it is dipping to 31fps then the FF engine is a joke and so is the GTA 5 engine.  Very poorly optimized, I guess they had interns do the quality control...

I mean I guess if you absolutely need to run assassin creed at high fps. It's not all newer games are going to be as demanding as assassins creed.

Can I ask what FPS you average on your other games ?

No dude you don't need a 2070, your 1070 is fine for 1080p gaming at max like I said.  Its a FF problem, don't throw 700 dollars at a 2070, then you come back disssapointed again about FF performance.

I mean right now all your games should perform 144hz @ 1080p with max graphic settings like I said before.  Try a lower resolution maybe that will speed things up.. Try for the heck of it a 720p resolution and see how it runs.  If it is still slow, then its not a video card or CPU problem.. its the game my friend.  Either you toss the game out of your system or you spend 700 bucks for no reason.

It's in the post, 102-125 in Just Cause 4, 200+ in DOOM maxed(this is to be expected as it's well optimized), COD BLOPS 4 runs at 102 FPS.

2070's are 500$ or less in the US and a somewhat equivalent GTX 1080/1080 ti can be had for similar pricing.

Ok thanks for letting me know all the games and how they work just beautifully.  It is a FF game engine issue, it is simply a bunk engine like GTA 5.  Poorly optimized and also as I said before you can defeat this possibly by lower your resolution just to test it out.  If it speeds up and doesn't hit 31fps then ya it is what it is and there's nothing you can do about it.

Yes your right it is around that price with tax or shipping its about a 600 dollar card......2080 is 900ish and 2080Ti because of it's 11GB VRAM is a insane 1400.

Did you not hear what I said? I was saying if you wanted to run Assasins creed at high fps not games in general. If you looked at the benchmarks then you would know that the 1070 isn't going to push high fps in assassins creed at max settings.
