How does wine work? Can I try any windows program with it, or is there just a list of compatible programs.

I really like Microsoft Onenote, and If I can get that working and sync up with my other computer, I'd switch over to Linux on my laptop entirely.

A few more programs like kindle and google drive too. Would those work?

The programs that are known to work (and the ones that are known to not work) can be found on https://appdb.winehq.org/

Onenote doesn't get past the installer, at least according to the last report, but since that hasn't been updated in a while you should give it a try. You can try anything you want though, there isn't a set list it will check before it lets you run something. At worst it just won't work.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

The latest tests are running on WINE 2.17. newest Wine version is now at 3.xx and has improved vastly. I suggest OP do a test.
