Is my Acer X34 Predator Dieing or in My Gpu

ChopperW33D

Hi all,

I have had my Acer X34 for about 9 months now. Plugged it in, OC to 100 Mhz, ran fine no dramas. However about 2 weeks ago, something weird started happening. I would be using it ( gaming, Work, School) and the display would go black for like 1/2 a sec, it would show the Display port logic then, then pic would be back. It was like the display cable had been pulled out and put back in. Its been happening more and more, some time 4- 5 times in a row. Got a new cable, tried all the display ports on my GPU, still happening. Reset back to factory setting aka back to 60 Mhz seem to be stable.

Is that a sign my GPU is on that way our or the Acer X34.

Setup: I7 7700k water cooled OC 4.8 , Gtx 1080, 32 gb, 500g SSD, Win 10 64

Just to clarify (casue it confused me while reading) the refresh rate of your monitor is not MHz but only Hz

Step the refresh rate back to ~90.  You may be pushing the LCD controller too hard.

Seems to be stable at 60. I will try 90.

But is it a sign that the Gpu or the Monitor is on the way out. As it has been fine on 100 Hz for 9 months.

Its a sign that the monitor is damaged/degraded.  You may have degraded the controller if it is not cooled well.

What is the default refresh rate?

That display is a 120hz unit, 100hz is not an overclock unless you are using HDMI.

It is an Acer x34 Predator, 60 hz with 100 hz Oc with Display port

I was hoping it was the monitor, as it has a 3 year warranty.

Thanks so much for the info.

I will call Acer and see what they say. looks like it is old stock, no one selling that model. Only the upgrade you link.

Vendor may have been advertising that, not Acer.
